  1. Can you share a bit about your background and how you ended up in your current role?
My career in IT began about 18 years ago in software support for a company in Edmond. I then moved into Point-of-Sale for a few years before taking the role of Director of IT for a retail chain in Iowa. My interest in cybersecurity grew during my time there, leading me to go back to school to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. After completing my degree, I returned to Oklahoma to take the position of IT Manager at an aerospace company where I oversaw IT systems and ensured compliance with cybersecurity standards, including DoD requirements (CMMC). Continuing my education, I pursued a Master’s in cybersecurity and an MBA while also obtaining various cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and CCSP. Last year, I joined United Dynamics as an IT /ERP Specialist responsible for supporting our IT and ERP systems and cybersecurity compliance efforts, particularly in line with CMMC requirements.
  2. How does your role contribute to the overall mission and success of United Dynamics?
My role contributes to United Dynamics’ overall mission and success as it revolves around maintaining and supporting the functionality and reliability of our IT and ERP systems. By ensuring these systems operate reliably, our employees can effectively fulfill our commitments to the DoD and other customers. Additionally, cybersecurity is a top priority, not only for compliance with DoD regulations but also to safeguard our information systems and sensitive data from all types of cyber threats. This proactive approach helps to support our operations and protect our valuable assets, ultimately contributing to the success of United Dynamics.
  3. What do you think sets United Dynamics apart as a workplace and a community?
Our culture of mutual respect and support sets United Dynamics apart as both a workplace and a community. This encourages a collaborative environment where everyone’s contributions are valued.
  4. What aspect of your job brings you the most satisfaction?
When I can find a solution for an issue that either does not have a solution or at least not a well known one.
  5. What is the one thing that you wish people knew about your job?
I wish everyone understood the crucial role of Information Technology and Cybersecurity professionals in supporting and safeguarding our digital world. Our responsibilities extend far beyond simply troubleshooting and maintaining computers and software. We are entrusted with protecting sensitive data and ensuring the reliability of essential infrastructure and systems. We must continue our education and learning to stay current on changing technology and cybersecurity threats. I also wish everyone knew how much they can impact the reliability and security of our systems and technology.
  6. Give us one fun fact about yourself?
I lived a large portion of my life overseas (military brat), and even graduated high school in Germany.
